Water2REturn present at the Conference AlgaEurope 2018 in Amsterdam
On 5th December 2018 the Conference AlgaEurope 2018 was held in Amsterdam where the Water2REturn project was presented by the partners Algen and Ljubljana University.
The main objective of the conference AlgaEurope 2018 was to offer environment for the exchange of experiences between academia and industry and to support discussions on the evolution of the Algae Biomass sector worldwide. In three conference days there were 52 lectures in 12 sessions:
- Microalgae-research genetics.
- Microalgae-research cultivation.
- Developments in microalgae applications.
- High-value product.s
- Industries.
- Latest developments in regulations and marketing.
- Biorefineries 1 and 2.
- New developments in macroalgae application.
- Feeds and functional foods.
- Biostimulants and biofertilizers.
- Environment, CO2 and wastewater.
Robert Reinhardt, director of Algen, was in charge of chairing the session on Biorefineries. During this conference Algen explained three projects such as SaltGae, Life Algaecan and Water2Return with an oral presentation.
Lara Resman, from the University of Ljubljana, showed a poster presentation about the results of Water2Return project experiments according to barley and maize growth pot tests using microalgae biomass as biostimulant or biofertilizer.
This conference has allowed us to expand the knowledge behind agricultural science in terms of algae. Deep insight has been gained in the fields of algae cultivation, algae extraction, the production of high value products and the application of algae in environmental solutions. All this has been important for understanding the biology and processing of algae, as well as for getting new ideas and valuable contacts for further work.
